TJ Wong has won the Cascade Blues Association's Journey to Memphis for the second consecutive year. In 2022, TJ won the J2M event in the band category with the TJ Wong trio, representing the Cascade Blues Association and the PNW in January of '23 at the Blues Foundations International Blues Challenge. This year, TJ has won the solo/duo category, pairing up with LIAB records house drummer Alec Donn. The duo will be traveling to Memphis in January of '24 to compete in the annual event. Watch for fund raising performances throughout the region to offset the expenses of their journey.
TJ's J2M win comes on the heels of two very well received performances at the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival over the 4th of July weekend. The WBF performance also marked the release of TJ's first blues album on Lightning In A Bottle records. "Kingdom Come" can now be heard on all streaming services, most blues radio programs around the world, and physical CD's can be ordered in the LIAB records store.
TJ's next festival performances will be at the Wallace ID Festival 7/7/23 and at the LIAB records blues festival in Mulino OR 7/22/23. Don't miss your chance to see this fiery young performer while he is still accessible.
